This page explains what data egymenu keeps, why, and who can see it. egymenu runs this website and the egymenu ordering system. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
When you request a free trial
The form on the get started page asks for your name, email and phone number, and an optional message about your restaurant. We also save the language you used on the form.
These details are saved in egymenu's own database and sent to egymenu's own inbox. You also get one confirmation email. Only egymenu, the owner of the service, sees them. We use them only to contact you about your trial and your account. They are not sold, not shared and not added to any mailing list.
Emails go out through Resend, an email sending service. It delivers the message and does not use it for anything else.
When you visit this website
We count page views to know which pages people read. For each view we record the page, the language, the site you came from, the type of device, and the country and network name looked up from your IP address.
We do not store your IP address. We keep a code made from it that changes every day, so a visit cannot be traced back to you or linked to another day. Counting uses no cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or any other tracker.
Cookies and data saved in your browser
- Language: when you pick a language, a cookie remembers it so the site opens in that language next time.
- Login: restaurant owners, staff and drivers get login cookies that keep them signed in. Guests do not need an account.
- Cart and orders: on a restaurant's menu, your cart and your recent orders are saved in your own browser so you can follow them.
- Light or dark mode: saved in your browser if you change it.
Error reports
When something breaks, a technical error report goes to Sentry, a service that helps us find and fix bugs. It contains details such as the page, the browser and the error itself.
On the restaurant dashboards only (not on guest menus), Sentry may also record a replay of a small share of sessions and of sessions that hit an error. Text and form inputs are masked in these replays.
Restaurant accounts
For each restaurant we store the owner's and staff members' names and emails, the restaurant details, the menu, the settings and the orders. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, so nobody can read them, including us. We use this data to run your account and to support you.
Guests who order from a restaurant
When a guest orders from a restaurant that uses egymenu, we store what the order needs: name, phone number, email if given, the order and its notes, and for delivery the address and the location picked on the map. If the restaurant turns on phone checks, the guest receives a code by text message.
This data belongs to the restaurant. egymenu stores and processes it on the restaurant's behalf, only so the order can be prepared, delivered and tracked. The restaurant sees its own orders. We do not use guest data for anything else and we do not contact guests for marketing.
The delivery map is provided by Google Maps, so Google receives the map requests made while choosing a location. Guests with a question about their order data can ask the restaurant, or contact us.
Drivers
For a restaurant's own drivers we store their name, phone number, email and the vehicle details the restaurant enters, and their location while they use the driver app for deliveries, so the restaurant and the guest can follow the order. New delivery alerts reach the driver app through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service. When a driver signs up in the app, they upload a photo of their driving license and criminal record for review; these files are kept in private storage that only egymenu and that driver can open.
Where the data is kept
We keep encrypted daily, weekly and monthly backups on servers in Switzerland, Germany and Finland.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
There is no automatic deletion date. Data stays until you ask us to delete it, or until we delete it because it is no longer needed.
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time. Send the request on WhatsApp (+20 10 26272352) or by email (sales@egymenu.com) and we confirm when it is done. Guests can also ask the restaurant they ordered from.
Changes to this page
If what we store or how we use it changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
